Ole Lenku who exited the ministry of interior under a cloud of controversy after Mandera terror attack has has been nominated as the Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Kajiado County.

In Kajiado central for instance, Ole Lenku beat all aspiring aspirants who included Tarayia ole Kores, Moses Parantai, George King'ori hands down by garnering 18,456 votes.

The former principal of Utalii College is now preparing for a bruising battle with the incumbent, David Nkedianye who is vying on a NASA ticket and hope to flash him out of the office especially after he described him as a "disaster waiting to happen".

"I hope what I am hearing about Lenku’s bid for Governor is just a rumour because he is a disaster who should be avoided at all costs. He is a failure,” Nkedianye told a local daily recently.

“Any person in Mandera, Nakuru or Mombasa will tell you Lenku failed the country. Many are interested in the Kajiado governor seat because I have done so well." He added.

President Uhuru Kenyatta fired Lenku as Interior Cabinet Secretary in 2014 after 36 Kenyans were massacred by suspected al Shabaab militants in Mandera.

Ole-Lenku infamous remarks of ‘burning mattresses’ during the Westgate terror attack has continued to haunt him and maybe  just maybe he can finally manage to emerge from the thick cloud of smoke come August 8by being elected the governor of Kajiado Central.
