Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday condemned Interior PS Karanja Kibicho for launching a complaint against Deputy President William Ruto, saying the action was unprecedented.

Murkomen, a close confidant of the deputy president, saying the magnitude of Kibicho’s complaint meant that his team would not look for answers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), but rather from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

If this is true and I have just seen it (the complaint), eyes will not be on the DCI. Any intelligent Kenyan will not look at the DCI and what he is going to say. Our eyes are now on the President because everyone will ask, what action is the President going to take to restore order in his government?” Murkomen said last night, visibly surprised by a newspaper headline announcing Kibicho’s complaint against Ruto.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator claimed that the assassination threat against Ruto was mainly attributed to the Interior PS.

The problem is, the purported assassination claim at La Mada Hotel is linked to Kibicho, but that’s what the streets are saying. He is the co-chair of the meeting and the main guy, but those are just accusations. He is the one who has been withdrawing county commissioners from the DP’s meetings,” he said.

On the impact of the assassination allegations on the DP, Murkomen said his reading of Ruto’s body language showed a man is concerned.

He is a very calm person but today I was with him today and I asked him what is this am reading in the newspapers and he shrugged it off though from the body language, he appeared distressed. I also noticed that his security had been beefed with one or two extra vehicles in his motorcade,” the Senator said.
