Karen Hospital writes to police on Keroche director Joseph Karanja medical condition

A letter from Karen Hospital's Dr Dan Gikonyo has revealed that Keroche Industries director Joseph Karanja has a serious medical condition.

Writing to those behind his arrest on Thursday, Dr Gikonyo outlined that the husband to Tabitha Karanja is in no condition to be incarcerated asking for his immediate release.

"This is to certify that Mr Karanja is under our medical care. He has a serious medical condition that requires regular medications.

"He has recently undergone life saving surgery. Keeping him under police custody will greatly endanger his life. Kindly assist him in this regard," the brief letter read.

The letter was written on Thursday evening with unconfirmed reports indicating that he was released.

Dramatic arrest of Keroche founders

Mr Karanja and his wife were arrested by flying squad officer on Thursday at their company's facility in Naivasha.

The two were accused by DPP Noordin Haji of tax evasion amounting to Sh14.4 billion on three alcohol brands under their Keroch Breweries company.

Tabitha spoke to the media and condemned the arrest orders saying that the DPP was after intimidating a local, tax compliant business.
