Second KQ pilot to succumb to Covid-19
KQ Chief Human Resources Officer Evelyn Munyoki confirmed the death in a memo released on Wednesday.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Captain Salah Salim Jeizan which occurred on December 2, 2020 at a London hospital where he was receiving treatment
"Captain Jeizan joined Kenya Airways on November 21, 2001. He rose through the ranks flying various fleets and until his last position, as a Senior Captain on the B787 fleet," the memo read in part.
Reports indicate that the 53-year-old pilot fell ill after flying to London on duty.
His condition worsened while there and he was admitted into the hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for close to a month.
Captain Jeizan becomes the second senior KQ pilot to succumb to the Covid-19 disease after Captain David Kibati died in April.
Captain Kibati, 63, developed complications while in quarantine after a trip to New York.
