Nine-year-old Sheila Sheldon Charles from Mombasa County showered Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni with gifts at his country home in Rwakitura.

During his recent visit to Kenya, President Museveni extended an invitation to Sheila to visit Uganda during her school holidays after she presented him with a portrait she had drawn.

"My muzukulu from Mombasa, Sheila Sheldon Charles, visited me in Rwakitura with her mother as we agreed she would, when I met her during my recent state visit to Kenya.

"Her mother told me that she was born at 8pm, therefore the Luo name we agreed to give her is Atieno," President Museveni tweeted.

Support and nurture talent

The Ugandan Head of State appreciated the new portraits the girl brought her adding that he was impressed with President Uhuru Kenyatta for offering to support her education.

"I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for supporting her education given that her parents were unable,"

"Talent of whatever form should be nurtured alongside formal education. I thank her for the gifts she brought me," the President's statement outlined.
