La Marina Restaurant Director Rita Zarnack has described her experience hosting the first family in her hotel in Mombasa.

President Uhuru Kenyatta along with 40 of his family members stopped by the Mtwapa hotel for lunch a few days ago and according to Rita, the experience was one to remember.

"When the President’s handlers made reservations for lunch, we had the least idea who the guests were. We set out as is our norm and prepared the best for the guests.

"I am still amazed at the simplicity exhibited by the Head of State. He sat on a bar stool and would from time to time communicate on his cellphone as he sipped his popular drink," the hotel manager described.

Uhuru's Favourite Drink

Though the hotel manager did not disclose which drink the president ordered, reports have indicated that he frequently orders a Tusker.

Former barman Charles Njuguna Warui who used to serve the president at the Caribana Bar and Grill in Hurlingham, Nairobi once told Business Daily that the president's favourite drink was Glenlivet whisky.

Selfies at La Marina

Rita told the Standard that the president took a few selfies with her staff before he left with his guests at 6 pm.

The president reportedly enjoyed his time at the facility, remarking: "This place has a nice breeze and it's a cool joint to hang out."
