10 dead as 961 more test positive for Covid-19

Total positive cases in the country stand at 85,130

The Ministry of Health has recorded 961 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 7,780 pushing the total number of positive cases to 85,130.

From the cases 944 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners; 626 are males and 335 are females, while the youngest is a five-month-old infant, and the oldest is 94.

The distribution of the 961 cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 203, Nakuru 118, Kilifi 83, Kirinyaga 71, Kericho 57, Uasin Gishu 52, Mombasa 41, Embu 41, Busia 40, Nyandarua 24, Kiambu 23, Kisumu 22, Isiolo 21, Nyeri 18, Nandi 16, Murang’a 14, Homa Bay 13, Kakamega 12, Nyamira 9, Turkana 8, Kajiado 7, Kwale 7, Trans Nzoia 7, Samburu 6, Vihiga 6, Siaya 6, Baringo 5, Taita Taveta 5, Kisii 5, Machakos 4, West Pokot 4, Meru 2, Mandera 2, Laikipia 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Bomet 1, Garissa 1, Bungoma Marsabit 1 and Kitui 1.

In a statement issued by CAS Mutahi Kagwe, 10 more people have succumbed to the deadly virus bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,484.

On a positive note 854 patients have recovered from the disease, 686 from the Home Based Care Program while 168 were discharged from various hospitals – taking the total recoveries to 56,464.
