Among the arrested individuals were KCSE examination supervisor, seven invigilator's and deputy principal of Moniakhu secondary school.
Kisii County Police Commander Benard Muli confirmed the arrest and said those arrested were being questioned as investigations into possible cheating continue.
“They were arrested on Monday evening and we have already begun interrogating them to establish why they had the examination material outside the examination centre," said Mr Muli.
According to Muli,security agencies in Gucha South, Kisii County, received a tip of about how the school had hired non-staff members to facilitate exam malpractice.
Some of the suspects were found in a house next to the school compound with copies of the real KCSE chemistry exam papers.
The 664,585 candidates begun with Mathematics paper 1 in morning and later sat Chemistry paper I in the afternoon, with the examination set to continue until November 28.
