The four were airlifted to Nairobi and then transferred to different hospitals within the city as other victims continue to receive treatment at the Mandera County referral hospital.
According to the Mandera County Commissioner, Onesmus Kyatha, the accident is suspected to have been carried out by Al-Shabaab militants who were targeting government officials carrying examination materials.
Two people were confirmed dead after the bus ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The Mandera bound bus hit the IED at Koromey on Arabia road on Wednesday morning killing the two on the spot, as 10 others sustained serious injuries.
The bus was along the Lafey-Mandera town road, with 40 passengers enroute to Mandera.
