The attack which happened on Saturday morning at around 2A.M in Ijara found security forces on high alert and engaged the attackers in a shootout.
Security forces have been deployed to the area to help in tracking the attackers who are believed to have fled to Boni forest or neighbouring Somalia.
The attackers also made away with a police vehicle which they used to flee after vandalising communication equipment and mast.

A senior police officer revealed to a local media house that no casualty was reported in the 2am incident.
The officer who did not wish to be named stated that “we have officers tracking them with the help of the military because we need to get the police vehicle back”.
The attackers also broke into shops in the town and made a way with property of unknown value.
A police officer privy to the details confirmed that the militants fled after a shootout with the police disclosing that “luckily there is no casualty, but we suspect some of them must have escaped with injuries after a shootout with police”.
Kenya sent its military into Somalia in 2011 in an operation dubbed “Operation Linda Nchi” following a wave of terrorist attacks from Al Shabaab.

An operation bringing together several security forces is also underway in Boni forest where the militants are believed to hide out and launch their attacks.
