Kenya Power admits overcharging Kenyans, offers solution

Finally Kenya Power owns up

In the mail, Kenya Power noted the erroneous billing was caused by migration to the new integrated customers Management System.

"We have realized that there have been errors in the conversion to the new system and that some bills which have been sent out reflect an amount due in excess of what should have been charged,” the email reads in part.

The Energy firm was responding to a petition in which Mr. Mboya accused it of abusing its dominant position in the country by overcharging Kenyans.

Kenya Power offers solution

Kenya Power noted that they had commenced a countrywide publicity campaign to rectify the error which has mostly affected customers in the month of December 2017.

“We have invited all affected to bring the erroneous bill to our attention to enable us to address it. For this purpose, we have set up helpdesks in our offices throughout the country and we have made telephone numbers available to our customers to access the helpdesks,” Kenya Power stated.
