Coca Cola to launch first alcoholic drink

It will have up to 8% alcohol

It will be an alcopop style drink. Alcopop drinks are sweet flavoured drinks that have alcohol in them such as Smirnoff Black Ice which are hugely popular in a majority of markets but most notably Japan.

The company is keen to profiteer off the growing popularity of a drink called Chu-Hi  which is a flavoured drink that is spiked with a local spirit.

The most popular flavours of the current alcopops are citrus, grape, apple and peach according to the BBC.

Coca cola had been investing more in diet sodas, teas and water as emerging markets are more health conscious.

Executives are now considering investing in alcohol.
