And some of them aren’t even our personal service providers. Which brings up questions of just how easily our phone numbers are available but that’s a worry for another week.
In deference to Customer Service Week, it was decided that we should mention companies with the best customer service in various sectors that affect us. So it should be noted that I won’t be adding something like yacht renting services.
Banking
As per Service Excellence Awards in banking, Equity has been the recurrent winner. They are said to have near perfect customer service and have limitless availability and a multitude of services that their customers enjoy.
Other banks that have excellent customer service are Kenya Commercial Bank as per the same award scheme and Co-op bank.
Online Retail
This is not a field that is crowded but based on online reports, Jumia Kenya seems to be the most popular followed closely by Kilimall.
Retail
From malls to stand alone supermarkets, there was a time Nakumatt would be at the top of the list. But the troubling woes that the chain has been hit with in the past few months have seen it become the most unfortunate place to shop.
Their pedestal has been taken now by retail giant chain Tuskys and upcoming supermarket Carrefour.
The most popular mall in Kenya is a tossup between the Hub Karen, Westgate Mall and newly opened Two Rivers Mall which all have ratings of above 4/5 on Google.
Hospitality
The best restaurants in the businesses are varied. When it comes to affordable local cuisine, K'Osewe Ranalo Foods seems to be the best with a 4/5 rating from 138 reviews on Trip Advisor.
For the high end restaurants, Eat Out Kenya ranks About Thyme as their best reviewed restaurant with 4/5 rating and 248 reviews.
Trip Advisor ranks Tamarind which has a 4.5/5 star rating from 510 reviews.
Motoring
With a local automobile manufacturer, Mobius (launched 2009), it’s worth it to note that the country has a significant motoring culture.
In terms of fuel services, the best ranked petrol station is Total.
The most popular vehicle retailer is Toyota.
Telecommunication
With their services in mobile banking, mobile money transfer and Wi-Fi services, among others, Safaricom ranks first in all customer review reports since 2003 when they introduced per second billing.
Sports betting
With the largest customer base, ease of use and availability of assistance whenever, SportPesa is the most popular sports betting facility on online and mobile platforms.
Government services.
The Kirinyaga governor’s pet project when she was Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Huduma Centre is arguably the most popular government service due to its efforts to eliminate the bureaucratic complications.
According to the Service Excellence Awards, the Higher Education Loans Board ranked second and the National Hospital Insurance Fund ranked third.
Food delivery
With a rating of 4.3 on Google, Yum Deliveries ranks first in this category along with JumiaFoods.
Entertainment
This will cover books, and movies.
The best bookshops are Text Book Centre and Prestige Bookshop which have a rating of 4.2 and 4.7 out of 5 on Google.
The highest ranked movie theatre in Kenya is ImaxCinema with a whopping 944 Google reviews and a 4.3/5 rating.
