Emerging reports indicate that the driver, conductor and other crew members are still being hunted down after the incident which has since revived the matatu madness debate.
On Sunday, there was a chaotic scene along Moi Avenue for about three hours as matatu drivers showcased their prowess on the road.
In videos that were circulated widely on social media, a fleet of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) were seen carelessly cruising around the City with young men hanging on them.
Pulselive.co.ke has learnt that the rowdy crowd was headed for a reggae concert and the dangerous showcase was meant to psych them up.
Police officers were caught up in the drama when the now impounded matatu, which was being driven on reverse mode, hit the police car badly damaging the bumper.
This is not the first time the matatus have engaged in such gross behaviour.
