Alfred Mutua warns Senators, MPs and MCAs in Machakos over this

In a press statement seen by pulselive.co.ke, the governor has told prominent Kenyans who may have stolen land in Machakos to surrender, lest the government takes an immediate action.
“Some of the grabbed public land was stolen by prominent Kenyans and is today directly or indirectly owned by serving and former Senators, MPs, MCAs, Councilors’ and their Senior Government officials,” the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader said.
He added: “I urge all those who occupy public land to honorably hand it over to my Government because one way or another, we will get it back. This is a new Kenya and there is no need of hide and seek games. Public land will be recovered whether the grabbers like it or not.”

In particular, the governor decried of the notoriously grabbed land near Mavoko Area, a piece which was meant for the construction of Mavoko Stadium in Athi River.
“For example, we will recover land meant for Mavoko Stadium in Athi River, that has been grabbed and other parcels of land in Machakos town.
“Of particular interest is land that was set aside for public utilities which was illegally and fraudulently allocated to individuals for their personal gain, in disregard of the public’s interest and development,” he said, adding that the grabbing has denied his government a chance to erect social facilities in the county.

Dr Mutua’s sentiments come a day after his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko vowed to reclaim land allocated to the County government.
In the latest move, Mr Sonko said the land on which Subru Motors sits on along James Gichuru Road had been reserved for a public library.
“After reverting the Gigiri fire station plot back to public use last week, we wish to report to the general public that after thorough investigations and perusal of all the records at the ministry of Lands and the City County of Nairobi, we shall proceed to reclaim SUBRU MOTORS LAND along the James Gichuru Road in Lavington…,” he said in a post accompanied by photos of allotment papers.
He further revealed that despite the owner of the land having links to the President and to the Governor, the relationship was inconsequential.
“…we are sorry for him that we shall not mix friendship with this BIG FIGHT,” the Facebook post reads.
