Elijah Muraguri Wanjiku, a Matatu driver daringly breached Kenyatta's tight security to ask the president to fund his project.
On Wednesday, a delegation from the Office of the President handed-over a brand new Toyota Probox to Muraguri, who had sought financial assistance of Sh 880,000.
Speaking after receiving the car, Muraguri said that he was grateful the President had looked into his request adding that he was now able to start a taxi business.
“I will forever remain grateful to the Head of State for having come to my rescue by buying a vehicle that will help me venture into taxi business” Muraguri stated.
On April 26, the 29 year-old driver was whisked away by security from the presidential dais after delivering a note to Kenyatta.
Moments before shaking the president’s hand, the security detail almost whisked him away but the Head of State intervened and asked him: “How can I help you?”
Muraguri reached into his pocket and handed the note he had written seeking financial assistance from the President.
However, after being whisked away, Muraguri was taken to Murang’a Police Station where he spent 5 days. An intervention by the Murang’a Police Boss saw him released on Free Bond.
His efforts have finally paid off and he has a new car to aid him start his own business.
