Uhuru leads the nation in mourning three bishops killed in road accident

More than 200 people have died this December due to road accidents.

The African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) bishops died on the spot after their vehicle collided with another after attending a church function in Embu.

The two drivers and one passenger sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Mwea Mission hospital for treatment.

Through a press statement released on Saturday December 30, President Kenyatta said that the death of the bishops was a blow not only to their families but also to the Kenyan society.

Bishop Philip Kubai, chairman of bishops synod from Ntonyiri Diocese, Bishop Moses Ntoreruri of Igembe Diocese and Bishop Stanley Kalulu from Igembe Central Diocese were the bishops killed in the road accident.

President Kenyatta urged motorists to take extra caution while driving and to observe traffic rules in order to maintain road safety.

The National Transport and Safety Authority had earlier on identified 15 black spots countrywide in a bid to reduce the number of road accidents during the festive season.

This December has seen more than 200 people die in road accidents.
