Hassan has an old disciplinary case that was lodged against him by his former law firm partner Fred Athuok. He told the High Court that the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) disciplinary tribunal has dragged resolving the case, something that has prevented him from securing any job as a lawyer.
The former IEBC boss on Thursday sued LSK accusing the tribunal of declining to rule on the complaint, that wanted him removed from the roll of advocated, for 13 times.
"By reason of the pending complaint, i am forced to live with anxiety hanging over my head...I am unable to associate as well as converse freely with my pees whilst this matter is glaring like a scar at a prominent pat of my face," Hassan told the court through his lawyer Chrysostom Akhaabi.

Athuok lodged the complaint against Hassan on August 26, 2013, over management wrangles in the law firm - Ibrahim, Isaack and Company Advocates.
According to Athuok, Hassan and his partners Sospeter Njoroge and Supreme Court judge, Mohamed Ibrahim did not conduct themselves professionally at the firm.
He further told LSK that the former IEBC chair declined to quit as a signatory when he resigned to take up the job at the Electoral Body in 2010.
Hassan filed the case at the High Court where he said that the complaint which has dragged for five years has made him be a target of mockery.
He stepped down from his job as IEBC chair in 2016 after Opposition called for reforms at the Commission.
