Why Netizens are angered by Alfred Mutua's condolence message

The Machakos Governor was mourning the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze who died on Wednesday.

Shortly after Nyenze was pronounced dead, Mutua took to his twitter and mourned the MP as a smart and diplomatic leader who always championed the interests of Kenyans.

However, the public took issue with his message when he claimed that the deceased had informed him he was tired with the 'sycophancy perpetuated' in Ukambani.

"I am saddened by the passing of Hon. Nyenze - a good man, a friend and a voice of reason. He was a smart & diplomatic leader who cared about his people. He told me he was fed up with sycophancy perpetuated in our region and supported my politics of development. I will miss him," Mutua's tweet read.

Netizens blasted Mutua and questioned whether there was need of chest thumping while mourning someone.

Here are some of the reactions:

Seemingly, the Machakos Governor was taking a jibe at how Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka had led the region to support NASA both in 2013 and 2017 yet they had never reaped benefits.

Mutua, who vied on a Mandeleo ChapChap ticket, trounced NASA candidate Wavinya Ndeti in the August 8th election but his win was challenged in ccourt.

On Wednesday, he announced that he would be vying for Presidency come 2022.
