Matiangi announces new role to NTSA officials

He asked NTSA to start de-registering driving schools

In a joint statement with his Transport counterpart James Macharia, Matiangi said that NTSA will be restricted to inspecting public service vehicles in bus stations.

This is in a bid to ensure that unroadworthy vehicles stay off the roads, in a new measure to control accidents.

"This will be to ensure drivers are not under the influence of alcohol or other substances when embarking on journeys," read the statement.

Matiang’i also called on NTSA to start the vetting and de-registering of driving schools.

He said that NTSA is expected to roll out a new driver training curriculum for all PSV and Commercial Vehicle license holders.

Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered NTSA off the roads saying the work of managing traffic should be left to traffic police.
