The son to deceased Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru has managed an impressive performance in the national exams which started on the morning that his dad died in a tragic accident.

Mugambi Mwenda was a student at the Alliance Boys High School and managed an impressive B+ which guarantees him a direct ticket to university, and a chance to pursue his course of choice.

Notably, Mugambi scored a straight A in Mathematics which was done on the morning that the former Governor met his death.

He is unlikely to have known of the father’s demise by the time of sitting for his first paper but unlike in normal cases where such news are delivered after completing all the papers, he was later informed of the sad incident due to the publicity it had attracted.

Mugambi attended his father’s burial before he could complete three papers – physics, CRE and science practicals.

A talented musician, Gakuru’s son sang a moving tribute to his father – leaving former President Mwai Kibaki and Rachael Ruto in tears.
