Boost for Kenyan athletes after new motion was passed

Athletes to enjoy free parking

This is following a motion that was unanimously passed by the County assembly relieving athletes from paying to park their vehicles.

One Gilbert Tenai, the mover of the motion revealed that he was catapulted to take action after relentless pestering and mistreatment of athletes by County officers who man the parking.

Mr Tenai who is the MCA of Chepiret/Kipchamo ward noted that the athletes have built a good name for Kenya after bagging home various huge accolades. His thought was the athletes to park for free as a way of showing gratitude to them for raising the Kenyan flag high.

“The motion has been passed by all county assembly members and it is only waiting to be signed into law by the executive for its implementation,” Mr Tenai said.

Most Kenyan athletes representing Kenya in International marathons hail from the North Rift part of Kenya, Eldoret being their town.

A while ago the County through its department of sports disclosed that they are yet to name streets with Athletes’ names.

The County led by Governor Jackson Mandago calls itself, “The City of Champions” and prides itself as a home to a number of athletes.
