Martha Karua's announcement that will disappoint Uhuru

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua had been promised by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during an interview on KTN, Karua said that she was not interested in a cabinet post at this particular period but in Kirinyaga County.

"I am not looking forward to being a member of government at the National level. My focus for this particular period is in the County.

"I can work with the Government but not as an insider with the government. I have been in cabinet and I have no wish to return to cabinet as it is now and I have not been offered," the former Gichugu MP stated.

Prior to the August 8th Election, Kenyatta did not endorse Karua or incumbent Ann Waiguru for Kirinyaga gubernatorial post when he toured the County.

The Head of State urged residents to vote for the candidate they preferred and promised to give a State job to the one who lost the contest.

If the President keeps his word, it now remains to be seen whether the former legislator will accept or turn down the job.

Meanwhile, Karua's sentiments come as Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto craft their new cabinet.

Among those being touted to be part of the new cabinet include: Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, former Meru Governor Peter Munya and former Budalang’i MP Mr Ababu Namwamba.
