The 17 officials from the County government of Uasin Gishu were interdicted by Governor Jackson Mandago for defrauding the county through computer system.

Mandago stated that the decision was arrived at after it emerged that the officials were “defrauding the county using our computer system and we cannot allow such dishonest people to be among our staff.”

Those sent home were from the parking department and had diverted more than Sh 5million in parking fees.

The governor made it clear that corruption has no place in his administration, urging the residents to report corrupt officials.

“If any of our employees asks for bribe they should be reported so that we take action against them …I will not entertain graft under my administration,” he declared.

Last year, more than 40 employees from the same department were sent home after they reportedly presented fake banking slips.

The spirited fight against corruption was revived by President Uhuru Kenyatta after it emerged that billions of shillings were lost at the national and county level.

Among the major scandals to be unearthed this year are the NYS scandal, KPLC scandal and NCPB scandal that saw the public lose billions to corrupt individuals.
