Githeri Man and 7 other surprising people to receive State honour at Jamhuri Day celebrations

President Uhuru Kenyatta will be giving the awards

Martin Kamotho aka Githeri Man who managed to unite the country with laughter following the tension of the August 8th elections.

Others include singers Ben Githae and Rufftone; controversial blogger Robert Alai; Citizen TV reporter Jackie Maribe; Director of digital communications for State House Dennis Itumbi; the late General Joseph Nkaiserry's wife, Hellen Nkaiserry; and champion boxer Fatuma Zarika.

The awards- orders, recognitions and medals- are in recognition of outstanding services rendered to the nation.

Over 150 people are honoured with the different awards observed every Jamhuri Day.
