A picture of Along'o George Mutwiri, Principal of Lairuba Day Secondary School and Security Officer James Ngugi Chege went viral on social media after they were captured wading barefooted through flood water to safely deliver the KCSE exam papers.

The two were spotted on Friday, November 10, the third day of the National Exams.

In a statement, Mr. Matiangi divulged that he had asked the Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua to consider the duo for a Recognition Award.

"I have written to the Chief of Staff to ask that Principal Along'o and Officer Chege be considered for a Recognition Award," he said.

The CS went further on to congratulate Mutwiri and Chege for being exemplary citizens.

"I would like to recognise the Principal of Lairuba Day Sec Sch - Along'o George Mutwiri and Security Officer James Ngugi Chege for their dedication and service during Day 3 . Along'o and Chege went above the call of duty to ensure safe delivery of examination papers," the minister stated.
