Kenya's top most controversial celebrities

They fall out of love with their favorite celebrity as quickly as they fell in love with them

Kenyans are a peculiar lot. They fall out of love with their favorite celebrity as quickly as they fell in love with them. The following celebrities receive criticism in almost equal measure to the love they receive.

She resonated with Kenyans almost immediately when she graced KTN back when Kenyans didn’t change the channel much. Her eloquence and captivating news presenting skills became unmatched throughout the years. She began projects and created content such as ‘the Inside story’ ‘The great debater’s’ and ‘African Leadership dialogue’ At her peak, she commanded unrivaled ratings with her ‘Sunday Live’ show on Citizen. All that love began sinking when she publicly stated her political affiliation. She also hosted a fund raising dinner for the Jubilee party. The latter action also rubbed Kenyans the wrong way, some arguing it compromised her objectivity as a journalist.

2) Larry Madowo

Larry began his journalism career covering business news. It was not until he took over  ‘The Trend’ from James Smart that Kenyans warmed up to him. He took a different approach to entertainment news presentation and made it resonate with everyone across the ages. The entertainment and news industry was shaken. His fame opened doors for criticism. Whether he is posing with a statue,  riding on a boda boda to hosting an interview, every moment he is in front of a camera is an opportune time to roast Larry.

3) Mike Sonko

Everything about Mike Sonko was controversial  from when he became Makadara MP. His choice of dressing, language and style of politics attracted love and hate. The conservative Kenyans wanted him tamed while others argued that Kenyans needed Sonko’s approach to politics. His wealth didn't help much as some questioned his source of wealth. Other folks said it didn't’t matter as long as he continued his philanthropy. Regardless, Nairobi resident trusted him enough to make him city hall chief.

4) Miguna Miguna

His name screams controversy. The media loves him for he shoots up the ratings. He secures himself a seat at every panel. Miguna became a darling of every house hold when he wrote a tell-all book on Raila Odinga. His book, Peeling Back the Mask, aroused people’s passions differently depending on the political divide. Recently, he jumped ship and supported the very individual he wrote the book against.
