Top drug lord shot dead in police ambush

He resisted arrest and injured an officer before he was killed.

The dealer, 27 year old Mohamed Hassan had been trailed by the police for a long while before their attack on him and 7 others after receiving a tip from the public. He was shot dead after severely injuring a police officer during the attack.

“Four of us raided the drug den in a hunt for suspects. The others surrendered but he resisted and even attacked another officer. He cut him severally on the right hand. He was so violent we had to shot him down. He was shot in the lower abdomen,” revealed one of the officers to the Star to whom he requested anonymity.

This was seconded by the Lamu county commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo who described Mohamed as dangerous.

“It’s true. The officers had to shoot the suspect dead. He even attacked and physically assaulted one of the officers with a machete. They had to act in self-defence. Several sachets of heroin and two machetes were recovered from him,” said the commissioner.
