Why Mutahi Ngunyi wants the 3 TV stations shutdown completely

Ngunyi said shutting down three of them is not a clampdown on media.

Vocal Ngunyi said that Kenya would be a happy nation without the acidic tendency of the stations emphasizing on bad sides of situations, rather than the good sides.

In a tweet, the political analyst said that Kenya has more than 43 TV stations and shutting down three of them is not a clampdown on media.

“We have 43 TV Stations or so in Kenya. If you SHUT down 3 Stations, HOW is that MEDIA CLAMPDOWN? Government should SHUT them DOWN forever. Kenya is HAPPIER without their ACIDIC PESSIMISM,” he said.

Earlier on the political analyst famed for the phrase ‘Tyranny of numbers’ had called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to deal with Kenya’s crooked media once and for all.

His sentiments came as soon as the government started closure of the three major TV stations, Citizen TV, NTV and KTN News as they covered the swearing in of opposition leader Raila Odinga, in Nairobi's Uhuru Park.

The government in a statement on Wednesday said that the stations will remain closed for an undisclosed period as investigations begin on certain individuals working for the said media houses.
