Sonko swears to fire 15000 Nairobi workers
Some County workers are planning on striking following their unpaid August salaries.
"Olunga should know he will never arm-twist my administration for personal gains at the expense of the County workers," he said.
In a gazzetted notice, Sonko warned Olunga against resulting to extreme measures in order to ensure August salaries for County workers are paid terming it as "unacceptable" and that his administration would not "bow to such unwarranted pressure".
"It is very unfortunate for Mr. Olunga to purport to threaten my administration to pay up or face industrial action."
Sonko went on to state that he as well as the County's Union officials had held a meeting to discuss issues in relation to salaries and pending payments.
"To show my seriousness in the matter last week on Wednesday the 30th of August this year I had another meeting with all the union officials whereby we discussed on various issues affecting the workers welfare," he stated.
He went on to assure the county workers that their August salaries will be paid.
"It should be remembered that I declined to spend Sh 25 million for my inauguration party but directed salary arrears of the county staff must first be settled," he reiterated.
The next meeting with the union officials is supposed to be held on September 5, 2017.
