Moses Kuria's comeback after Uhuru's washenzi comments

Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria

Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria has responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta after the president called out those complaining about development.

In a post on his Facebook account, Mr Kuria agreed with the Head of State over developing all regions in the country but also maintained that the Central region had been neglected.

"H.E the President is 100% right. He is spot on. We need development in every corner of this country," the Gatundu MP stated.

"It is in that spirit and in line with the President’s position that I believe Mt Kenya region also deserves development just like any other region. Right now it’s not happening," he added.

On Saturday, Mr Kuria had maintained his stance on the development of the Mt Kenya region which he said the Jubilee administration had neglected despite having been voted for overwhelmingly.

The Jubilee government is yet to fulfil its promises to residents of Mt Kenya region. The residents of the region have stood with the government twice and it is time for it to reciprocate.

Many parts of the region still lag behind in terms of roads, electricity and water yet the residents still support the Jubilee government,” the MP stated.

Resolving historical injustices

However, on Monday, the President defended himself by saying that he was resolving historical injustices where development was only concentrated in areas where those in office hailed from.

“I am not easily intimidated especially when I am sure of the path I want to take. For those loitering with petty politics, we have said that we want development to be distributed across the country. Development will no longer be on the basis that a leader comes from a certain region,” President Kenyatta stated.

I will ensure every corner of this country will get development. From Kisumu to Mombasa, from Moyale to Namanga. That way, these politics of patronage will end so that all areas can grow regardless of who is in power, Kwa hivo hawa washenzi waachane na mimi (let those idiots stop bothering me),” he added.
