Mombasa road blocked by angry protesters

Heavy traffic snarl up in the area

The protesters were demonstrating water shortage in Emali town that is located along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

The residents claimed that they have not received water for the past one month and their complaints to the relevant authorities have fallen on deaf ears.

They demanded an address by area governor Kivutha Kibwana after the Water CEC failed to quell the demonstration.

The shortage was occasioned by management disputes at Nulturesh Water and Sanitation Company, the company that distributes water in Kajiado, Machakos and Makueni counties.
