NASA supporters clash with police

Police officer injured after being attacked by rowdy NASA supporters

The supporters who were reportedly travelling in a convoy of vehicles to Kisumu after attending Raila Odinga’s controversial swearing in ceremony laid siege on the unsuspecting traffic police officers.

Trouble started when the 6 officers flagged down the vehicle on Friday and directed that the driver should proceed to Naivasha police station.

The team of youths mercilessly descended on the officers with eye witnesses recounting that during the attack, the youths repeatedly claimed that “they were in power”.

Eye witnesses recounted that the attackers, mainly youth roughed up the officers and made away with cash and other items stolen from the officers.

Members of the public came to the rescue of the unarmed traffic officers, forcing the rowdy youts to flee in their vehicles towards Nakuru.

Naivasha subcounty commissioner Isaac Masinde confirmed the incident, stating that the officer sustained minor injuries and was treated in a hospital before being discharged.

Masinde confirmed that investigations are underway and the suspects would face justice for their actions which contravene the law.

He disclosed that during the attack, “the officer lost various personal effects including part of his uniform and a mobile phone”.
