New initiative will reduce road crash deaths.
NTSA Kenya has launched a new campaign dubbed Fika Salama which aims to reduce road accident fatalities associated with drunk driving. Joining the campaign is Uber, Taxify, Little Cab, PERAK (Pubs, Entertainment & Restaurants Association of Kenya) and ABAK (Alcoholic Beverages Association of Kenya).
Revelers will be encouraged to take alternative modes of transport when leaving pubs rather than driving while intoxicated.
Fika Salama has been released on Friday as it anticipates the December holidays.
NTSA Kenya Director General Francis Meja, met with the CEOs of Uber, Taxify, Little Cab, PERAK and ABAK at the Serena Hotel on the first of December where they addressed the press on their anti-drunk driving campaign.
The companies reached an MOU with the transport authority to provide alternatives to minimize fatalities.
NTSA will also educate the public on responsible drinking habits like spacing alcohol with water intake and eating well before drinking.
In 2017, number of road crash deaths has reduced by 10%. Here's hoping the number will reduce even further with the new partnership.
