Okoth Obado speaks on his struggles after the murder of Sharon Otieno and alliance with DP Ruto

This is what he has been through

Migori Governor Okoth Obado speaking in Nyeri where he appealed for prayers

Speaking in Nyeri on Sunday where he joined Deputy President William Ruto and other leaders for a marathon in honour of the late Nyeri Governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru, Obado admitted that he is going through a tough period in life.

The Migori county boss appealed to prayers over the problems he is currently facing.

“I am very happy to be with you here today and as you can see, spiritually I am alright. Let me just ask that you continue praying for me because of this other problem I am facing.

“My name has been greatly tarnished but my spirit remains intact, actually it’s even more stronger,” said Obado.

In compliance with court bail conditions, Obado refrained from mentioning the slain Rongo University student or the murder case which is before the court.

"My coming here today is to show solidarity with you and help the deputy president cement that unity which we all cherish as Kenyans.” Added the Migori county boss.

On Saturday, the Migori County Boss declared that he will put his weight and that of his close his allies behind deputy president’s campaigns and projects.

The governor has been warming up to an alliance with DP Ruto who declared that he had no problem working with Obado as well as with NASA boss Raila Odinga.

In the last week, Obado has hosted the DP twice in his county and appears keen on cementing the union.

Away from the Sharon Otieno murder case, the governor is also facing a financial scandal in which he is alleged to have used proxies to loot public funds.

On his part, the DP Ruto remembered the late Nyeri Governor saying that he was “an outstanding Kenyan.”

“Dr. Gakuru was an outstanding Kenyan and he did make a huge contribution to this country. Even before he came to Nyeri he drove our vision 2020 which is the transformation vehicle of this country,” said DP Ruto.
