Shock as late Senator's family fight over his millions

The properties of the late senator are valued at hundreds of millions of shillings.

Among the list of properties being fought over include pieces of land in Migori, Kisumu, Nairobi's Pipeline, Ngong, properties in Lavington, Langata, Runda, South C, several vehicles and shares at Unge Sacco, PACCOSSO and Umoiner.

The latest spat involves Kajwang's brother, Joseph Okoto Ajwang, who three years after the senator's death, now claims that he was owed Sh15 million and wants it back paid in full with an accrued interest calculated from the date the debt came into existence.

According to The Standard, Ajwang filed an affidavit at the court’s registry claiming that although he conducted many transactions with his brother, he found it necessary to bring to the court’s attention the small matter of the debt.

He now wants the court to issue an order that a house in United Estate in Nairobi’s South C area be transferred to him in the event the estate cannot meet the Sh15 million he is demanding.

Ajwang is the latest entrant in the growing list of claimants who want a piece of the late senator's vast wealthy estates which run into hundreds of millions of shillings.

Others include Dr Rose Bujehela Otieno and Faith Vivian Otieno, who both claim to be Kajwang’s widows.

Vivian Otieno and her daughter Christie Otieno, caused drama after they were ejected from at the Lee Funeral three years ago when they wanted to view the remains of the late Kajwang by the senators family members and friends as they awaited for the post-mortem results.

“I have been married for 19 years to Otieno Kajwang’. We have two children — Christie who just completed high school and Ronnie Odinga Otieno, 19 — who is at Kabarak University. Let it be known that I am not his girlfriend, but his legal wife. In fact when she was in the UK, I was the one living with Kajwang,” Otieno stated.
