Igathe makes drastic changes after resignation

Igathe drastic move...

On his twitter handle, Mr Igathe adjusted his bio description to Official account for outgoing Nairobi City County Deputy Governor.

Interesting prayer

The former Vivo Energy Managing Director also posted an interesting prayer in which he hinted at never to interfere where he was not needed.

“To that end, I pray that I may never meddle, dictate, interfere, give advice that is not wanted, nor assist when my services are not needed.

"If I can help people, I’ll do it by giving them a chance to help themselves; and if I can uplift or inspire, let it be by example, inference & suggestion, rather than by injunction and dictation,” part of his prayer read.

Last week, Igathe shocked the country when he declared that he will be resigning from his position as Nairobi’s Deputy Governor.

Lack of trust

He revealed that among the things that led to him to resign was lack of trust between him and Governor Mike Sonko.

Igathe claimed that he has failed to earn the trust of Governor Mike Sonko to enable him to serve the people of Nairobi as promised during campaigns.

"Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1 pm on 31st Jan 2018. I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Admin & Management of the county.

"Without fear, favor or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians & my family," he said.

Igathe’s resignation has left Nairobi in a limbo since the Constitution is silent on what should happen in case a Deputy Governor resigns or dies.

This has forced legal minds to make proposals on some of the adjustments that should be made to accommodate such a scenario.
