Uhuru's stolen car found in neighbouring country

2 people have been arrested for stealing the car

According to Tanzanian Police, they arrested two suspects, who were found in possession of the black Nissan V8 believed to have been stolen from State House Nairobi.

Reports indicate that police acted on an intelligence brief from Kenyan authorities on August 19.

The car is said to be part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security escort and was intercepted at a police road block in Boma Ng’ombe while being driven to Kilimanjaro Province, with Tanzanian registration number T954 DEQ which police said were fake.

"This is a Nissan V8 and it is suspected to be stolen property. It’s a Kenyan car and it was nabbed at a barrier at Boma Ng’ombe. We have interrogated those who were found with the car and their statements are contradicting. On further enquiry we were informed that on August 19 a Nissan v8 had been stolen in Kenya," said Kilmanjaro Police Commander Hamisi Issah.

The car’s original registration number is said to be KCP 184R.

The Kenyan security authorities are yet to officially comment on the arrest.

This is the second vehicle belonging to President Kenyatta’s security escort to have been stolen in Nairobi and recovered in a neighbouring country.
