Raila responds to Githu Muigai after threatening him with Treason 

AG Githu Muigai had announced that the punishment for treason is death.

Speaking at the burial of Francis Nyenze in Kitui County, Odinga lashed out at Muigai for his threats and announced that he was ready to die after being sworn in.

The former Prime Minister noted that if his death would pave way for electoral justice in the country, he was ready to pay the price.

“If death is the price that we must pay that Kenyans get electoral justice, that there is no more election rigging in future, we are ready to pay that price. We will be sworn in wafanye kile wanataka kufanya (let them do what they want).

“We said we won the election and we will be sworn in. We have been warned with treason and death. I want to tell Githu Muigai and his boss. We will be sworn in and die,” said Odinga," Odinga declared amid rapturouscheers from the gathering.

The Opposition leader announced on Sunday that he was ready to carry the Bible and reiterated the same on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the AG warned that anyone who would participate in the swearing in of Odinga would face the full wrath of the law.

“The constitution of Kenya provides in clear terms in Article 2 (2) that no person may claim state authority except as authorised by the constitution. A swearing-in of any other person not declared to have lawfully won an election by IEBC and administered by the Chief Justice is high treason in respect of the person involved and any other facilitating that process.

“What is the punishment for high treason? It is death,” Muigai posed.

NASA postponed the swearing in of Odinga during the Jamhuri day celebrations at the last minute.

The Opposition has however remained adamant that the Opposition leader will be sworn in but failed to announce a new date.
