Atwoli's wife opens up on the lies she fell for and her rocky marriage to the COTU boss
In an interview with Radio Jambo, Roselinda divulged that she married Atwoli at the age of 30 years after the trade unionist who was 47 at the time lied to her that he was a divorcee yet he was married.
“I met Francis in 1996 when I was a chairperson at the Kenya Union of Sugar Plantation Workers. He was 47 years but never told me he was married, instead he said he was divorced,” she said.
In the candid interview, Roselinda revealed that she made selfless sacrifices to support Atwoli’s career including offering financial support only for the vocal trade unionist to abandon her before marrying a younger wife.
“When he was contesting for a political seat for the first time, as the wife I supported him even financially with the money I had saved to buy myself a car.” She claimed.
During the tell-it-all interview, Roselinda claimed that Atwoli failed to provide for the family and abandoned them, forcing her to seek help from Eliud Wabukala in vain.
“He was only supposed to pay school fees but he did not provide the basic needs. I had to sell my shamba for my daughter to complete her studies in South Africa,” she stated
She refuted Atwoli’s claims that he married KTN’s Mary Kilobi as a result of loneliness, asserting that “If he was lonely, it was by his own choice because he was not coming home, not receiving calls nor did he want to send me money for the children.”
Her decision to consider running for a political office resulted in a bitter fallout with the vocal trade unionist going on national TV declaring that he left her over the decision to venture into politics.
However, according to Roselinda, this was not the case as the trade unionist had promised to support her political ambitions.
