The unusual thing that happened at Sharon Otieno's home, ahead of her burial

Tension at Sharon Otieno's pre-burial ceremony

Sharon's baby burial ceremony. Sharon Otieno’s mother Melida Auma fainted after being overwhelmed by emotion as the body of her daughter arrived at their homestead in Migori on Thursday for pre-burial ceremony.

Nation reported that her mother Melida Auma collapsed and fainted after she got overwhelmed by emotions, as late daughter's body arrived at their homestead in Migori.

For more than an hour, relatives tried to make resuscitate Mrs. Auma as a heavy downpour hit the area.

Sharon's father Douglas Otieno, who looked seemingly in low spirits, could walk around his compound quietly with preference to be left alone perhaps in signs of mourning his daughter.

According to him, words could not express the family's agony, neither can wailing heal their hearts and no amount of tears can describe their loss.

“This is heavy for us. We will bury our daughter, but nothing will make us forget this pain. Every time I view her body and see what her killers did, it angers me. They were merciless,” said Mr. Otieno.

Obado's murder trial

The family had earlier vowed not to bury Ms. Otieno until her killers were brought to book, but have since opted to finalise their daughter's farewell with a belief that justice will be served.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two personal assistants Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero are the prime suspects in Sharon's murder.

The three have since pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and they remain guests of the state at the Industrial Area Remand Prison as they await their bail hearing set for October 24.
