The Garissa MP stated that the ban on shisha would go a long way in promoting the health of Kenyans.
“I will bring a legislation in parliament to support the action of Government in saving the health, lives and resources of many Kenyans,” the Majority Leader stated.
Duale spoke a few hours after Mailu issued a gazette notice banning the sale and manufacture of the tobacco product popularly known as shisha.

“No Person shall import, manufacture, sell, offer for sale, use advertise, promote or distribute Shisha in Kenya” Mailu’s gazette’s notice read in part.
Those who will contravene the new law will be deemed to have broken section 163 of the Public Health Act.
In Section 164, violation of article 163 attracts a fine not exceeding fifty thousand shillings, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both and, if the offence, contravention or default is of a continuing nature, to a further fine not exceeding one thousand shillings for each day it continues.
Kenya has followed in Rwanda’s footsteps which recently imposed a similar ban.
