Sonko suspends Top Nairobi County Officials over insubordination

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has suspended top Nairobi County officials over insubordination.

In a press statement, the Governor said he had noted contradicting statements from the county officials over the Pumwani Hospital saga, and they violated the principle of collective responsibility.

“After exhaustive discussions with the County Executive Committee Members and Senior County Officials, and in view of the unanimous resolution on how to handle the issue, H.E the Governor has noted with concern the contradictory statements and actions by a section of senior officials of Nairobi City County Government. This clearly contravenes the principle of collective responsibility and amounts to insubordination,” read part of the statement.

Sonko insisted that he personally witnessed the situation at Pumwani Hospital and it would be fair if all County Officials committed to addressing the problem.

“In addition to the steps taken yesterday, H.E the Governor has today announced the suspension of the following over insubordination,” said Governor Sonko.
