Mwangi has been arrested by detectives from the DCI over the scandal involving a Sh1.1 billion contract for provision of the Integrated Revenue Collection services.
DCI George Kinoti who spoke to Citizen Digital confirmed his arrest adding that 30 detectives were out looking for 17 senior officials of NHIF who are in hiding since the arrests begun on Friday.
After Geofrey Mwangi was charged in Court, Nicodemus Odongo was appointed Chief Executive in an acting capacity as Mwangi and Acting Director of Finance and Investments Wilbert Kurgat were sent on compulsory leave.
First arrest
His arrest comes barely two weeks after he was released on bail alongside the Head of Finance, Mr Wilbert Kurgat.
Reports said that the two were summoned to DCI headquarters located along Kiambu road and were arrested shortly afterwards.
The two allegedly used their positions to try to block investigations into claims of corruption at NHIF.
