The day Jimi Wanjigi took Jeff Koinange to court

Mr Wanjigi, who was once a media-shy, took Mr Koinange to court for discussing him, a Sani Mbui Wanjigi and Kwacha Group of Companies Ltd during Mr Koinange’s show (the on KTN) despite courts order barring the discussion.
The matter resurfaced on Wednesday when he hosted former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on his show, when Jeff seemingly brushed off a jab from Khalwale, who mockingly told off Jeff after he sought to know if Khalwale had any idea of why he had been roughed up earlier.
“He once sued you. He is your friend, maybe I should ask you what has happened this time,” Khalwale told Jeff.

Mr Koinange would later be charged alongside Tony Gachoka with whom he had discussed Mr Wanjigi in extension in several television talks shows.
Cash bail
Mr Koinange was released on a Sh100,000 cash bail after he appeared before a Chief Magistrate Linus Kassan.
Resident Magistrate Maisy Chesang had earlier ordered Mr Koinange’s arrest alongside Tony Gachoka after they failed to attend a defamation suit.
“If someone can be arrested four days after a warrant is issued, that person can be termed as a flight risk. Having considered all arguments I order that Mr Koinange be released on Sh100,000 cash bail,” Mr Kassan ruled earlier.

An elated Mr Koinange immediately rushed to the Court Bailiffs and Process Section to pay the Sh100,000 cash bail. His co-accused Mr Gachoka did not appear in court and was still being sought by police.
Mr Wanjigi had sued Mr Koinange and Mr Gachoka for allegedly linking his Kwacha Group of Companies to the Anglo-Leasing scandal that saw taxpayers lose more than Sh50 billion in irregular government contracts.
Mr Koinange and Mr Gachoka are alleged to have uttered the defamatory statements in two different episodes-on May 15 last year and on March 12 and 13 this year despite a court order stopping them from discussing Mr Wanjigi and his firm.
