Raila and Uhuru issue message to Kenyans

NASA and Jubilee leaders reach out to Kenyans

In his Christmas message on Sunday, the president urged Kenyans to stay united ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

"This Christmas, we come together once again as families as friends as a nation to celebrate the redemption of that promise of unity," he said.

Kenyatta expressed his gratitude, stating that "our families are grateful for your prayers, your support and our friendship throughout the last year. We in our turn pray that your Christmas and New Year may be filled with God blessings".

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga’s message was a complete contrast to that of Kenyatta.

The NASA leader acknowledged that the country was divided by “those who have rallied behind the leadership that wants to take us back to the dictatorship and those who believe that democracy and rule of law portend a brighter future for us all.”

The opposition chief also reassured his supporters that his quest for electoral justice was on course and liberation of Kenya would surely come.

His message read in part that “we promise you that you can now look forward confidently to our swearing-in ceremony very early in the New Year”.

He also dismissed the development agenda of the Jubilee administration, stating that “this development worship is not new”.
