Mutua's offer to Wavinya Ndeti after being re-elected governor

He is set to win the Machakos gubernatorial seat

"We will give Ndeti a job if she is interested," he said.

Addressing the media and his jubilant supporters at his office in Machakos, Dr. Mutua welcomed his opponents to work with him in his government.

Dr. Mutua has so far garnered 244,241 votes with his rival Wavinya Ndeti having garnered 204,928 votes but has not yet officially been declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mutua thanked his supporters for giving him another term in office and promised to continue developing Machakos County.

"We won because we wanted to show development was more important than sycophancy, he said.

Mutua reiterated his interest in seeking for presidency in the year 2022.

Wavinya Ndeti on Wednesday August 9, rejected the preliminary results showing that Dr. Mutua was in the lead.

"We do not know where they are getting the results from and this is causing a lot of anxiety. We are not accepting the results," she told journalists.

She added that they have written a letter to IEBC on their rejecting the results.

Ms. Ndeti had earlier on alleged that Dr. Mutua had bribed his way into office; claims that Dr. Mutua denied.

"I did not give money to anyone. People are afraid of change yet the people of Machakos want change...we are going to show them the real change."

He was accompanied by his deputy governor-elect Francis Maliti.
