Garissa County and the 2019 census
The NE bloc counties claimed that the results are not from the actual enumeration that took place from the night of 24th/25th August 2019 and ended on 31st August 2019.
"Instead, we are certain that the data used especially for these counties came from pre-census mapping data collected earlier which were data extrapolations and not actual numbers.
"KNBS has not counted and has no methodology to count nomadic communities that have no permanent settlements and no known addresses to reach them. Over 70% of the population of Northern Kenya consists of these nomadic lifestyle," a statement from the leaders read in part.
The leaders stated that they would seek legal redress on the matter.
