Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa defects from Tanga Tanga, returns to Raila's camp

ODM spokesman Philip Etale on Tuesday announced that Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa had defected from Tanga Tanga squad and returned to ODM Leader Raila Odinga's camp.

Jumwa has in the recent weeks been a key supporter of Deputy President William Ruto including being the Coast point man for the Tanga Tanga Team -allied women's group - Inua Mama.

"Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa today officially ditched Team Tangatanga and vowed to vigorously campaign for Bernard Okoth Imran for the Kibra Parliamentary Seat. She attended the party Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall chaired by Party Leader H.E. Raila Odinga. Imran was also introduced to the members," ODM Communications Director Philip Etale said in a statement.

Etale's statement was followed by a tweet from ODM's verified Twitter account which was later deleted in unclear circumstances.

"Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa says ODM is her home and her DNA is ODM. She says she fully supports Bernard Okoth Imran, our candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the November 7 by-election," ODM stated.

Jumwa did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Pulselive.co.ke.
