Professor Mwenda Ntarangwi, through a letter dated July 17, will take office as the new CEO for the Commission for University Education effective from September 5, 2017 and he will serve a term of five years.
“Your appointment comes at a time when the university education sector is going through a series of reflection and reforms. I wish you the very best as you take this post,” said Dr Matiang’i.
Professor Ntarangwi will succeed Professor David Some who is set to retire on September 4, 2017.
Interviews for the position were held on July 12 and 13 where seven applicants participated; a total of 26 candidates had applied for the position.
Among the applicants were Egerton University Vice-chancellor James Tuitoek, acting Chief Executive Offcier Walter Oyawa, Deputy CEO in charge of quality, audit and standards at the commission Anne Nangulu, Professor Nathan Ogechi, Deputy Vice-chancellor in charge of student’s affairs at Moi University, Professor Christopher Shisanya and Kenyatta University Deputy Vice-chancellor (Administration) Professor Okumu.
